"Absolutely the best I have ever had...... I couldn 't disagree more with the past two reviews, however everyone is entitled to an opinion. I first found Modern Orchid in June 2011. Since I ate there the first time, I have returned each and every week atleast once and most weeks more. I drive an hour and one half each way to eat at the Orchid. The owners, Amanda and Phillip are wonderful!! So kind and accomodating to their guests. The service is outstanding, professional and very attentive. Their vision for the restaurant is exciting and I can 't wait to see what comes in the future. The food is absolutely outstanding. Fresh, well presented, beautiful prepared and very tasty. I travel quite extensively and with Asian food being my favorite I have tried from Halifax to Paris to China and back.....the Modern Orchid is without reservation the best I have every had. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone without hesitation or restriction. Must haves on the menu are Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Crispy Spicy Beef, Fresh Salad Rolls, Crispy Beef Cakes, Hunan Chicken, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Moo Shoo Pork, Mango Chicken. Everything on the menu is exceptional. If you have not been to the Modern Orchid put it on your 'must eat there ' list. You will not be disappointed."

"Best in Dartmouth. ..far cry from Jeans and Look Ho Ho but good for the Darkside.love the beef and broccoli always fresh and not soggy. Place seems to be clean and service is always good."

"Went to the Garden View for lunch with a coworker on a Thursday. We were the only people there close to noon. We were quickly seated and given our menus. Drink orders were taken immediately. We both ate from the lunch special menu and we both ordered an extra egg roll each. Egg rolls arrived shortly before our main dish. A small pot of gold was set on the table (house plum sauce). The main dishes were placed before we put away the egg rolls. All food was hot and tasty. Lunch specials were $7.99 for beef fried rice and your choice of 1 main side and an egg roll."

"It is defiantly not a Yum Yum.The food is not bad but greasy and it is not the sort of place I would go back to. If you need something in a hurry and it cheap. It has cash only and no debit so makes things that much more unappealing."

"Best Chinese takeout I've found. Very well priced and actualy all made there in the shop. I believe it's run by a family. I go out of my way in trips into Dartmouth to eat here when I can. Sure it's not the most well off looking place or location but it's actualy great"

"I went to Modern Orchid because my friend recommended it, and I'm so glad she did! The cashew nut chicken was amazing, and it came with a perfect little spring roll and perfectly cooked rice. There was a bit of zip to the chicken and vegetables, but not too much that I couldn't enjoy the flavours. After my meal, they brought me a nice little bowl of chocolate ice cream, free of charge.5/5 recommend."
