"The person who said the word was not able to describe the ambiente was no sweat! there was a window unit, but it wasn't there when we were there. the doors were opened and the fans were at full speed. we went on Sunday at 2 o'clock and the place was full. We couldn't hear about the cracks of the tortilla machines in the back. we have the 4 tacos and a coke for $5 special. the tacos were very small, but delicious. the maistortillas here are really great. I had an Asada platillo with tears and borons. it was good. the sauces, rojo and verde are both good. they have a small menu. I liked this place and would like to come back to try the champurra. our whole meal was $12.05 not bad!"

"Obnoxious kitchen does not care. Cooks are too busy entertaining themselves singing along loudly to a cheap boombox to bother with what they put on the plate. If the house wants to provide music or mariachi they could play music on quality speakers placed where everyone can hear, and hire a mariachi that knows how to do more than croon for their own amusement. And if diners want live entertainment, we would pick a place that books qualified entertainers Food is inconsistent from one week to the next. For somebody, this restaurant may have become a cash cow and maybe a source of adoration from staff who have jobs where they don't have to try. The place appears to survive based...read more"

"Great Burnt Ends and Ribs. I ate here for lunch on a Tuesday in October.

My favorite meats of theirs are their burnt ends and their ribs. Everything else I find average or a little below average. However, the Burnt Ends and Ribs are very good. I never order sandwiches either. If I want a sandwich I'll go to Subway. When I'm at a BBQ restaurant I want barbecued meat and lots of it.
I'm not a coleslaw eater so I cannot and will not try and comment on how theirs tastes. Their beans are good. Not great, but good. I did have a friend say their beans tasted like Wendy's chili with brown sugar added. I found that description rather amusing.

Order ribs and/or burnt ends and you won't be disappointed. In fact, skip the side dishes altogether and load up on ribs and burnt ends.

Their hot BBQ sauce isn't very hot. I'm not one of those guys that loves super hot food and so label everything as tasting mild so I can appear manly. It's seriously not hot. Of all of the hot/spicy BBQ sauces I've had at the various BBQ restaurants in Tulsa, OK Joe's has to be the most mild of them all.

Staff are very friendly.

This location also features a bar and a music stage. It is also next door to Cain's Ballroom and is open an hour before any shows there.

Their seating at lunchtime looks awkward. Almost like their real seating is on order and hasn't been delivered yet, so they're renting some."

"I've eaten here several times and the service has always been fast and friendly. The brisket is my favorite of the entrees on the menu and the beans my favorite side order (a really tasty blend!). As a previous reviewer has noted, this is not traditional bbq in the sense that here the meat is not cooked slowly over indirect heat (thank you, wiki definitions!). Instead, it's pressure cooked. Now, that may offend bbq purists, but it doesn't mean it's not good. I recently ate bbq at a popular bbq restaurant in Long Beach and, for both me and my wife, the brisket at Main Street Skillet is much better (and doesn't cost nearly as much). I don't like a huge lunch, so I usually order the small brisket sandwich. I wish some other places would also offer small servings in addition to the typically large restaurant servings (maybe fewer Americans would be so fat if more restaurants would do that). As for the fries, they are more of a home-cooked variety than what you usually find at popular fast food places. I like the fries here, but they are different. For me, the cole slaw has been hit and miss. They recently changed the recipe and I thought it was pretty good. So, worth a try. The chicken I've had there has been good, but at times, a little dry and a bit bland. Nothing a little extra bbq sauce (and perhaps a bit of cajun seasoning) doesn't spruce up well! Something out of the ordinary they offer is a side order of squash. It's good. They also have taco salad and hamburgers on the menu, and have recently added burritos. However, since I haven't had those, I can't provide a review of them, yet. Another reviewer indicated that they felt the prices were too high. Matter of opinion, I guess. This will usually cost a bit more than McDonalds (depending on what you order), but less than some of the more trendy downtown restaurants.

Verdict: Good brisket and beans. Other offerings worth trying (everyone has different tastes). Fast, friendly service."

"Fantastic! Ate there the first time today. Ordered ribs and Sliced Brisket and was asked Baby back or spare? I have never been asked! Brisket, Spare ribs, beans and potato salad were all among the best I ever tasted! I will be a regular from now on!"

"Fantastic. Yesterday I had the Crawfish/Oyster Po'Boy and my son the TurDuckEn Po'Boy. Great food, great atmosphere. I really like the spicy fries. I try to eat here EVERY time I am in T-Town. Don't miss it."

"My co-workers and I stepped into the warm, colorful Sisserou's on a frosty day for an island escape and were not disappointed. We started with two appetizers the were fried to perfection - the sweet potato chips and fried plantains. Everyone enjoyed trying their unique flavors. The baked chicken lunch was super tender and seasoned all the way through, as was the chicken curry. The Cuban sandwich was very fine, with well seasoned pork topped with delicious Swiss cheese, ham, and house mayonnaise. The jerk chicken provided more of a spicy kick, but my favorite part was the herbal, creamy Butternut Squash soup that really hit the spot on this cold day! A very nice experience all around!

tastytulsa.net"
