"This was a random booking and a wonderful surprise. Deliciously flavoured food, served by friendly efficient staff and set in beautiful surroundings. My companion and I are both vegan the veggie/vegan menu was pretty extensive and the three dishes we tried were very good indeed but there is a larger meat/fish menu which I would assume is equally good."

"Several clearly marked vegan options on the menu, including a proper dessert of crumble and ice cream! Staff were really on board with changes to the menu to expand the vegan selection. They talked about the carbon footprint of vegan options as being far better than local meat, and therefore in line with the sustainability goals of the National Trust"

"Lovely walk around Bowfell. Quiet paths with nice places for food and drink around. Beautiful part of the lakes that isn’t inundated with crowds. A must for a peaceful hike, lunch or stay."
