"Low quality food at a not so good pricepoint. I got the beef dip. A pretty simple dish and cheaply made at that. I couldve have heated up a package a roast beef deli meat, slapped it on homemade toast, and dunked it in soy sauce and had a better quality sandwich. Probably the worst beef dip in town. Sincerely, A beef dip lover"

"Admittedly, unlike my girlfriend, I am now officially too far into my forties for me to lie about not being so, but having said that, I was still the youngest patron in Butterfly Eatery by a factor of at least two pop-star life cycles. I won’t accuse anyone else of being old; I’m only saying that probably—stressing probably—most of them lean forward in a car driving uphill. I’m just saying. The restaurant is aware of this as it offers a flat senior discount. Loyal readers (Bob) will know that I generally post unfavorable reviews for family restaurants, but Butterfly Eatery is technically not one. It’s a breakfast diner. There is no kid’s menu to my knowledge, and there wasn’t a cacophony of noises and colors spilling from stereos or televisions to prevent attention deficit toddlers from a full hyperactive spastic outburst. I didn’t even notice the overhead music until forty-five minutes into my experience. As such, I didn’t carry as big a chip on my shoulder going in.But yes, there was totally a flat seniors discount across the entire menu. Because really. On its surface, Butterfly is adorable, like baby kangaroo lovable. Soft colors of blue and white alternating between tables, chairs, carpets, and tiles. Butterfly regalia is everywhere, to the point of being borderline invasive. If this was New Zealand, they’d be spraying insecticide. It’s like the owners visited any typical craft fair and bought…well…everything. Unfortunately, like a family restaurant, the table came pre-cluttered with utensils, cups, and condiments. It was at that point, something dawned on me, I realization after all these years: what does it infer about our society where the sugar decanter looms over all other granule dispensers like the Burj Khalifa? Regardless, Butterfly gets one positive mark for offering an extensive but not bible-sized menu. Just a simple spread covering the essentials without the need for every single hairsplitting variable. No mention of the words “vegan” or “gluten-free”. No pictures on the menu either. Just a breakfast diner with breakfast food. Eggs, pancakes, and refillable hash browns. Hold the phone there—did you say…refillable hash-browns? You bet your svelte and toned posterior I did.It also helped the hash browns were above average (basically cubed fries). I ordered the Breakfast Bowl while the girlfriend asked for a half-order of French toast. We were certain the host had mixed the order given the delivered plate was substantial. No, it was indeed a half, leading us to assume a full plate would’ve met the caloric demands of Hodor. My girlfriend also received a side of hash browns, delivered on an equally large plate. The host then left to return with bacon, and then again with more condiments. By the end, she had to make five trips to deliver two lunches. Less than an hour later, the final bill came to only $26 for two people. That’s fantastic value. My breakfast bowl was satisfying with two caveats. One, I was given the option for sourdough, which would’ve been an immediate positive mark had the delivered slices not been cut from a mass-produced loaf. I was really hoping for a proper sourdough. And two, I will probably never find scrambled eggs that don’t disappoint. When ordered, they often show up unseasoned and as elastic as Professor Impossible from The Venture Brothers. Butterfly’s attempt was not as bad as Ricky’s or Denny’s but could’ve used more seasoning. In conclusion, Butterfly Eatery is an above average breakfast diner that, despite playing it safe, ultimately accomplishes something worthy of praise: They beat other family/breakfast restaurant chains at their own cuisine. I can still do better scrambled eggs on my own, but if I was time-constrained in the morning, it’s one of the better options.Food: 3/5Service: 3/5Presentation: 3/5Value: 4/5Recommendation: 3.5/5"

"Restaurant looks like something out of the fifties, it it cozy and comfortable and not loud, you can hold a conversation with out shouting. Food is very well prepared and the cost is reasonable with many choices of ocean food to choose from."
