"We have discussed going here since the restaurant opened and we have received several comments from our friends. We agree with the comments regarding the location, wonderful view of the church at Santa Ana which is lite well at night. I would guess parking is only on the streets but that is not an issue for us since we live in the area and walk everywhere. The atmosphere is quite pleasant with cove lighting and suspended, exposed filament light bulbs, clean and crisp would be a good description.We shared the calamari frito, a crispy pile of calamari rings, a mound of shredded kale or other green and a nice quantity of tartar sauce all served on a rectangular black plate. After much discussion between us we concluded that the crust on the calamari was excellent, light and crisp. The tartar sauce one of the best we have ever had and the shredded greens a nice touch. The only complaint was that the calamari were very tough, almost not chewable and in-fact very hard to cut with our knife, this could be the fault of over cooking? The serving was rather small but that could be overlooked if the calamari was not tough. The price $110 mx. We both had pasta dishes with a ham and bechamel based sauce, mine baked with parm. and bread crumbs, his with portobello mushrooms. Both were quite good, large servings, but we both added some salt, which is not an issue as over salting would be. We both felt the wine prices were on the high side by the bottle and several of the house pours were french, fairly priced by the glass but wonder what the quality is based on the price.Service was attentive and efficient, the restroom very clean and nicely decorated, women downstairs mens upstairs. Conclusion, we will try again, usually we go to new restaurants 3 or 4 times to get a feel for the place. The prices are definitely on the upper end of Merida dining for Italian cuisine and consequently should be always excellent. We understand the nuance of different cuisines within a country and appreciate the variance between northern italian and cuisine from Naples."
