"We decided to ignore the bad reviews but now we wish we had listened. We drove from London took us around 2.5hrs to food that looked as if it had been cooked from frozen. Definately not fresh. The service was nice though. The drinks were awful, really badly made. The restaurant was empty which should hit alarm bells. Decor is nice but its very cold inside."

"Honestly it was a solid 11/10. I absolutely loved the food and the service was just as amazing. I especially loved the service from Tunde! He was so friendly and definitely made me feel welcomed. He was a lovely man who made my experience so much better! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for friendly services and amazing food."

"What an incredible place!!! The food is amazing as much taste as curry, but at the same time completely different and there are so many vegan options Inc fake meat items. I wish I lived closer so I could go all the time! The staff is so friendly and the cocktails are deadly!!! Service was faultless the place was spotless everyone has to go here it is brilliant."

"Rather disappointing. The tomato brushetta was ok but I 'splashed out ' and had the crab and langoustine linguine. Mmm. I have had more seafood in a Waitrose seafood sandwich than in this. The sauce was really really good but the pasta was slightly under cooked. Such a shame. The restaurant was extremely busy so we accepted the long wait between courses but the wait was not really worth it. Sorry"

"Gosh, we had high hopes, but we have to say that we were disappointed. The venue is small and quite cramped being a small retail unit. Service was friendly and knowledgable, but the majority of the food from the 8 course Chef’s menu lacked the freshness, colour and vibrancy that we had expected. Too many of the dishes were overpowered with heavy umami flavours and too much salt. It was hard to get a sense of the fruits or vegetables forming the key elements of the dish. This meant that the attraction of the restaurant was lost. Our standout dishes (which did have freshness and vibrancy) were the deep fried Japanese rice ball with ginger and the beetroot with basil oil. This might be a seasonal issue but, for us, the Chef’s menu simply does not work. We also appreciate that, given the size of the venue, it is important that bookings do turn-up but charging full payment in advance with no cancellation policy, only a right to amend the date, is going a bit too far. We know that the restaurant gets great reviews but we can only give 3 stars."

"Despite the fact that the Colonial Pavilion is set up in the area of the Botanical Gardens where the cafe can be found during the morning, and therefore, not looking as a pretty as many other restaurants- the food and service cannot be discounted! I stuck to veg and fish options, all of which were great. Prawns for starter and sea-bass for main. The chilli chocolate mousse and cinnamon doughnuts were delicious! The service was impeccable- we were very well taken care of and not kept long at all between courses. With the restaurant being situated in the Botanical Gardens, it was possible to go for a little stroll about after too which was a great way to finish off the meal!"
