"Probably the best seafood I had in Portugal so far. A real hidden gem in Aveiro. We had a seafood stew that was simply amazing. A lot of langoustine, shrimps, mussels and clams for a ridiculous price and a huge portion. I would go back to Aveiro just to eat in this place again. For 2 people with 1L of wine we paid ~70euros"

"There was a very professional waiter at this place. He gave excellent advice about my gluten free choices, the choice of wine with a particular meal and which desserts were gluten free... He was friendly, had a good sense of humour and yet was professional. The food was excellent a Dorada freshly caught and prepared potatoes in olive oil and vegetables.... Unfortunately the fish soup contained gluten and the alternative vegetable soup was, to my taste, a little bland.... Some of the desserts looked great although I could only have the fresh fruit salad, which was nice; some fruit sauce, yoghurt, cream, or ice cream, with it would have been better. However all things considered it was a very nice meal and a pleasant evening. There were a few couples and families with children which the restaurant caters for very well."

"I don't know what some people are talking about when they talk about bad service. we were there on a busy late afternoon, when the whole dining room was packed, and the man who greeted us (probably the owner) and served us was incredibly friendly and friendly with every single mozen in the restaurant. he came to each table several times and laughed with all his guests. we would not have asked for a better experience. he led us patiently through the menu and made excellent weeping suggestions. the seafood was generous with all kinds of fresh ingredients and was an excellent value, as he hand-fed three people. they make one fall and try the unconventional cheesecake. the sweet and salty balance was unusual, but very well worked. we were the last guests in the restaurant during the switch between lunch and dinner, and not even we were hastened or made to feel something, but warmly welcomed all the time. many unfortunate tourist traps at popular destinations are completely forgotten and bordering. we will be happy to get our experience at o batel for a long time."

"And again: nice people serving excellent (Portugese) food. The ambiance is good and I really like to dine on their terrace: in the sun next to a canal with a magnificient view on a couple of palmtrees. Cais da Tosca is an absolute must-go if you are in Aveiro."
