"We visited twice during our stay. Food was excellent. Homecooked lovely meat and fish. Very reasonably priced. Best place to eat locally in our opinion. Staff so friendly and welcoming. Superb service"

"The thought of fresh grilled fish was fantastic, considering we were next door to a fish market. Living here we know the price of fish. ( pardon the pun)We ordered in portuguese and answered in ingles!We had atum and robalo. Delicious but and a very big but we were charged a ridiculous 33.50€ for something we could get for 12€ elsewhere. To add insult to injury they re laid the table as we were paying the bill!Tourist prices for local dishes, such a shame!"

"We've been coming here for 4 years. The staff are so very friendly and can't do enough to make your experience enjoyable. During our last stay, we ate here every other day for two weeks. Their sea bass and salmon is absolutely delicious and their steaks are amazing too. The chocolate mousse is a taste sensation and my sons frequently ordered "mama's special". This informal beach bar has a laid back vibe, but the food is up there with the Vale Do Lobo and Quinta Do Lago establishments, for a fraction of the price."

"We waited an hour for meal. the fish fillet didn't even taste a fish, I don't know if he was old or badly fried. yes. I ordered french and salat (without rice) to this court, and I have only rice. a colleague ordered a steak medium and got raw meat. I don't know if the service had a bad day or so it's always and I won't find out because I definitely don't come back. I hope other people have better experiences with this restaurant."

"My wife and I both had steak; the cut was cheap, so bad my wife couldn't chew hers. Service was ok to start with, but once the food arrived the service nosedived. Getting the bill took what felt like an age, probably not helped by...my lack of desire to pay for such poor food. I couldn't recommend"

"This restaurant is very well known for its Alentejan cuisine. The food is typical Portuguese and freshly made every day. The last time we went we had the Starter plate (cheese, ham, chorizo), Ameijoas Boa, Acorda de Camarão and to finish Baba de Camelo accompanied...by a delicious wine. On other occasions we have had the Arroz de Marisco, Caracois, Bifanas and much more. If you have any special needs, or wishes the chef is happy to custom to your needs. We also come here for just a coffee or a glass of wine, the atmosphere is very relaxed and you feel very much at home. Keep in mind this restaurant is not there to serve the tourists and rush people out. It takes time to prepare the food which in my opinion is a good sign, everything is prepared fresh to order. If you really want to try Portuguese cuisine and are not in a rush, pay a visit to Gaveto! TIP: In the summer you can sit on the rooftop terrace with a beautiful view! Enjoy your sunset drinks, lunch or dinner there."

"Came here with family towards the end of October. I had the grilled salmon and my two guests had the tuna. The pieces of fish were HUGE!!!! Absolutely wonderful meal, honestly one of the best I have ever had and my guests said the same. To make it even better, wine was lovely, staff were lovely and the overall place was LOVELY!!! We were even offered a little licquer each afterwards. Great, great, great!"
