"We were staying at the motel; Citrus Valley Motel, so ate there in the restaurant. The space used by Ashely's is large and relatively uninviting with a small bar at one end of the space where a waitress served drinks in between serving meals. It has a large and fancy menu. One old time entree, Fried Camembert was listed, but it is now very popular in England as a trip there in May showed us. Pumpkin soup for entree had a wonderful flavour but was way to thick, more like a astew. I had salt and pepper squid as a main which was cooked to perfection but cam with a vast quantity of salad which rather spoiled the squid as did the lack of a hint of .szechuan pepper. I had ordered salad to accompany the main but the waitress did not tell me how much of the main was salad, most annoying. The chips served with the squid were crispy and well cooked. Service left something to be desired with waitresses leaning over the table to place cutlery and food on the table and removing plates before all had finished, but I guess it is a country restaurant!Ashley's was packed with locals who obviously were enjoying the food and wine, so may be I expect too much. Wine list average to small and prices moderate.Over all a good feed but the pretensions of the palce leave me feeling it is a wanna-be eating place."
