"I went into the restaurant fully understanding that it was a no frills, family run, tiny restaurant in a strip mall... for me often these turn out to be gems... this wasn't one of those times. Small but clean, and with a delicious aroma... we were optimistic. Ordering process was confusing... you order at the counter, pay, seat yourself and they bring out some parts and call you to pick up others. You pick up your own plates and cutlery styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery and even plastic cups. What we had: Chicken Vindaloo Chili Chicken Aloo Gobi Pilau rice Paratha Naan 2 samosas The chili chicken was the best of the dishes. Chicken Vindaloo requested extra spicy was not even mildly spiced and lacked that sour punch one expects. I think it was just chicken curry they brought us. Everything else was fine, just fine. Nothing stood out. Cheap and cheerful Thali's are available and would be a decent take out option... at $9.99 they are a bargain... There was quite a line up for the take out. Honestly there are so many other options I doubt we would go back."

"I have been eating here consistently for nearly three years and I've tried many Indian restaurants in the GTA. I can confidently say The Shish Mahal is my all time favourite Indian restaurant. From the quality service to the pleasant experience with the owner and chef, this place is everything I like in a small local restaurant. The butter chicken and naan are my personal favourites. Garlic naan is also great. I eat the chicken and fish tikka weekly. The pakora and samosas are great starters. Love to end my meal with their gulab jaman for dessert. The reason I always find myself coming back is I don't find their dishes to be oily and they use quality meat. Happy to recommend this place to all friends and family."

"Ate here while traveling with four co-workers after work on a Thursday evening. No problem getting a table but we did call ahead to place our order. Ancila was very accommodating, even to my vegan diet. Ordered chicken and vegetarian and vegan dishes. All were great. And seemingly healthier than other Indian restaurants I've been to (not over loaded with ghee). Medium spicy is spicy but tasty. Hope to be able to return before heading back home."

"This is my favourite Indian restaurant in GTA. Their quality is excellent. Staff is very friendly as well. Only thing they have to improve is their sitting arrangement. The seats are very tight and sometimes it is difficult for a big guy like me (6 ft with potato belly) to sit comfortably. Even my wife who is slim built finds it difficult to sit on their tight sitting arrangement. But very sorry to see that it is empty all the times. I am afraid it may be closed down in near future and we will loose the best North Indian restaurant in Mississauga."
