"We'd passed this countless times but never dined there. Feeling like a Chinese meal, we decided to give it a go. Albeit it was a Tuesday evening, it was very busy. nevertheless we were welcomed in and had attentive service from the hardworking staff. The old joke about Chinese meals was that they might be good but not filling so one might have a bag of chips on the way home. However my starter, salt and pepper duck, was generous in quantity as well as very tasty. We ordered three main courses plus a noodle dish. All were good and we ended up feeling full so no bag of chips on the way home! We enjoyed our visit. I would say that this was a pleasant dining experience without being in any way exceptional. I give eight marks out of ten."

"The highly recommendable Sunday roast at the Royal Oak is just as well cooked and presented as a takeaway. We had roast lamb and roast chicken and a couple of pints of draft bitter; all excellent as usual. A great treat during lockdown 2."

"We’d been to Chessington for the day didn’t think to book anywhere for dinner, we tried another pub down the road, to be served a drink then told about 70% of the menu was off. With a 5 year old this put a bit of a downer on our night had to find somewhere else to eat at 8pm! We came to the star and the staff all seemed so welcoming, so happy, so friendly! The food was AMAZING, atmosphere was great, my 5 year old was well entertained it made our night! Thank you so much, we’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Chessington!"
