"My lady wife and I had dinner here on a fine night in July. It's certainly a lovely setting, the only place in Chalonnes where one can eat while overlooking the Loire.On a mid-week night it was about half full, as expected, so the unwelcoming service was quite disappointing. We felt as if we'd somehow missed some point of protocol, despite speaking good French.We chose from the set menu platters, which turn out to be starter, main course and dessert, all served simultaneously on a mini wooden "pallet". The food was good, but you would have been better served in a more conventional way. The Romans used plates and I don't think we've improved on the concept since.All in all, we enjoyed the evening, but we wouldn't rush back."
