"Actually this is a hidden gem in the Funchal suburbs . Entrance thru the sports bar: it takes a little courage to enter, since the real restaurant is hidden behind a typical Portuguese sports bar. Once you are in the restaurant, service and food will be outstanding and easily worth the money spent. Thanks to the PDT-team for a great and unforgettable dinner experience!"

"Great service. Mega hot day and the waiter kindly invited us in for a refreshing drink and we were not disappointed. Non alcoholic version of Poncho, freshly squeezed oranges, lemon and local honey, amazing!"

"Great poncha and nice lapas grealhadas (local grilled shells). There was no massada de marisco (pasta with sea food) on the menu but the owner offered to prepare it anyhow! And that in front of the sea and a great sunset!"

"We have eaten at this place before. Our first visit was just after this Restaurant opened which was quite a few years ago.It was very good. I think the place must have changed hands . Because our last visit was not a good experience .Like another reviewer we found the fish overcooked and dry. I need not say any more. I have also sent a question about the picture showing sun beds and swimming pool which is clearly not Boca de Panela .I have not had the courtesy of a reply from either the staff or Tripadvisor . It was not worth the walk along the promenade.There are a number of places in the area better than this."
