"Oldest pub in Scotland 1516! Enjoyed a a few drinks.....we relished the thought of history attached. But must say service not great and hot chips we ordered not great...over done, hard and not seasoned at all. Add a bit more service and better food...and the experience will be all encompassing and magic!"

"In Edinburgh to drop my son, who is Vegan, to college here. My last night before I head back to Dublin and we decided we 'd go this highly rated Vegetarian Restaurant. I had the blue cheese tartlet to start. I was told this would take 15 minutes as it 's prepared from fresh. The menus and the web page declare no microwaves and all food prepared freshly. I didn 't doubt it! What arrived was mouth watering and delicious. Freshly prepared and piping hot. Wow. Four our next course my son had the chick pea wrap. I had the Spicy Chilli with chocolate no less guacamole and sour cream. Unbelievable. My son said his was mouthwatering and a huge portion. Neither of us left a morsel on the plate. For our deserts I had the Hot Peach and Raspberry Tart with Chocolate ice Cream while my son had the Raspberry Jelly and Lemon Cake. The Lemon Cake was the best bit to directly quote a satisfied customer and mine again was wow. All served by the most pleasant of servers particularly the male one who was fun and professional. And all for £59.00. All in all without doubt next time I 'm in Edinburgh I 'm going here."

"We took our 3 year old grandson and he loved it , the staff were amazing, they really focused on the children. Santa's was so traditional and a really cosy setting. Mrs Claus and letters to santa great Really worth a visit given the amount on offer, great experience for them. Couple of tweeks and this could be the Christmas must go to place. The tray bake stand looked great but disappointed at taste and lack of freshness considering price of them."

"One of the few good things that come out of the pandemic for me was the rediscovering of this fantastic eating pub. it opens to the breakfast at the weekend and always early enough for brunch. pancakes, large veggie breakfast or traditional scrub. it is all good. tipp; the area below is better to eat, perfect for 1 to 4 people, but later groups should book. I try to work my way through the menu, but always distracted from the specials. make sure they find out if they have any specials before the order. are good and the quality is top notch. I am constantly impressed by how fast the bonnington leith gets good food from the kitchen. it is absolutely a water that I consider whether I have time pressure. the pho and the burgers are my top recommendations. it is also worth calling the personal because it is great. Finally, they are one of the reasons why the service is so licked. they are friendly and knowledgeable. I wouldn't be shy to ask her for help, thought or thought. I also saw how well the team here ensures that the COVID rules are adhered to. I feel safe. masks are worn and people sign themselves. tipp; not on the menu, but it is worth knowing that there is often a stash of gingerbeard back goodies to try. tables and toilets are clean. doggos welcome. I have a lot to do, and the atmosphere was always great. [may 2022 update still great]"
