"Very handy for Basel SBB opposite. I left the station and was seated within a minute. Before my first course I was offered an amuse bouche which was black bread and salmon tartare. My first course was some of the best fish I've ever had cod ceviche with yellow beetroot, chilli, coriander radish. The cod was perfectly tender and the vegetables with it a perfect accompaniment. My main course wasn't Swiss Weiner Schnitzel with rosti. Again, perfectly cooked and the rosti was beautifully crispy. All in all an excellent experience!"

"Essen okay, aber der Service unter aller Kanone. Da muss ich nicht mehr hin. Unaufmerksam und von Servieren kann gar nicht die Rede sein. Gedeck und Essen wurden uns lieblos "hingeschmissen". Sorry, aber da gibt es bessere Restaurants in Basel. Und leider klappt es mit der Kommunikation auf Deutsch auch nicht so gut, so dass es schwierig war, irgendetwas zum Essen überhaupt fragen zu können oder Sonderwünsche anzubringen..."

"We initially wanted to try Swiss fondue at Walliserhof but they were closed for lunchtime on Sunday so we crossed the street to try this instead. We both ordered off the special menus.After getting used to Swiss prices the menu here came as a nice surprise. It was 20 francs a 3 course meal including salad and dessert. The salad was nothing special, the pizza I ordered was huge and tasted amazing - I think the toppings were onions and hot dogs, or something like that. My boyfriend got the linguini, which was good but nothing special. However, they gave us apple strudel with vanilla cream for dessert which tasted lovely. All in all, there was way too much food for us to finish.The place was quiet and seemed to be populated by locals, even though it's in a hotel. It doesn't really seem like a tourist place. One minor annoying thing is that there is no English menu. Food was pretty decent, especially for the prices."
