"Rawlicious is a raw food and vegan restaurant situated on a cozy side street in downtown Guelph, offering an inviting little patio, and a bright, minimalist dining room. Now I am no Neanderthal meat eater who has just come in from the caves looking for raw sinew.I am a regular at the Health e Nut in Milton Ontario, and at Pure in Collingwood, so I was accustomed to raw fare, and was not at all put off by the nature of the food. What did get my goat however, was the size of the portions, and the price.I ordered the Classic Burger with Jicama Fries, an open-faced burger with a sprouted buckwheat bun, ketchup, mayo, romaine lettuce, tomato and pickles with jicama fries. What I got was an appetizer sized offering of 6 fries, a thimbleful of ketchup, and lettuce the size of two twoonies.The burger was about the size of a hockey puck sliced in half, and this came in at $16.00.They should sell this offering at half the price as an appetizer.My wife had the Pad Thai, a concoction of zucchini and kelp noodles in a tangy Thai sauce for $16.00. The portion was generous, but it was very bland and tasteless.For a flavourful vegan pad thai, go to the Health e Nut in Milton and Georgetown, Ontario, and also Pure in Collingwood.The Key Lime tart was excellent, and I would return to buy a tart as a take-out anytime. I also bought a container of hemp protein from the retail section, and when we got back to Toronto, we noticed that it was already one month past the expiry date.Our server was very friendly, and the restaurant seemed clean and efficient. As we left after paying the bill, my wallet felt a lot lighter, and I thought I heard a storm approaching from the west. What I was really hearing was the rumbling in my stomach, which the 6 jicama fries and the mini puck sized burger had failed to calm down.So I hightailed it up the street to the chip stand on the main square, and wolfed down a jumbo veggie dog with the works, all for $3.00 and change."
