"Cute little shop with specialties and some beautiful baked goods. The owner is celiac herself and started to include gluten free things as she was upset about finding so little in other cafes! They had cheese cake, some nut cakes and macarons and were super friendly"

"The ice salon is located in downtown Freiburg in the student district. Actually, a little inconspicuous, but always well visited. There are a variety of different types of ice that always change and made themselves. Among them are some vegan options. Besides ice cream, the card also offers some mixed drinks. In the summer you should bring some patience as the snake is quite long before and the tables are often occupied. But the waiting time is worth it."

"I love this place and it's become a bit of a place of pilgrimage for me every time I visit the area. It's better than many Michelin-starred restaurants I've eaten at. It's the kind of place where you savour every mouthful with delight, wondering how it's possible to make such good food. The menu is quite traditional but there are some surprises, such as the Ballon dessert (in reference to the Alsace Ballon) which is bursting with unexpected but very welcome flavours. And while the cuisine is delicate and sophisticated, there isn't any fuss: no drops of sauce of the side of the plate or dramatic spreads of red puree across weirdly shaped plates. It's just delicious food that's been carefully prepared. The atmosphere is also unpretentious and warm. In the evening, it's a lively crowd of smart locals who sit and chat until late. As a foreigner, you feel like you've found the hidden local gem. The wine list is like being a kid in a toy shop. It's packed full of all the excellent local wines and the delightful staff are there to help you with your choices. Enjoy!"
