"First visit to this small restaurant located near Poincaré high school. The menu offers a choice of several entries, dishes and desserts. I opt for the vegetarian plate, very good, nicely presented with various flavors and for an excellent floating island with strawberry and oranges: it is original and delicious. very smiling and efficient service."

"C'est la troisième fois que je vais dans ce restaurant et j'ai vraiment été déçue car il n'y a plus qu'un seul menu, pas de plat à la carte, donc très compliqué pour les personnes difficiles...certes, ce sont des produits frais, mais le style de cuisine ne nous a pas séduit hier, trop acidulée, seule mon entrée m'a vraiment plus!! J'ai également été déçue par les vins blancs au verre qui en plus ne sont pas trop donnés : 7 euros pour un côte de Gascogne, c'est un peu cher... Et en plus, le service était beaucoup trop long, et pas forcément top, quand on nous sert les mises en bouche sans nous dire ce que c'est... ça ne m'était encore jamais arrivée! Nous avons été obligé t'interpeller et de demander à un autre serveur pour savoir ce que l'on nous servait."

"It was a bit difficult finding a restaurant that was open on Sunday night when so many restaurants were closed (partly because it was Sunday, but also because of Covid slowing business). We went L'Excelsior because the reviews here on TA were solid enough to...make it worth a try and we weren't disappointed! This is a classic brasserie that could easily appear out of Paris in La Belle Epoque. Our servers spoke English enough to cover areas where my French was lacking and were VERY professional. We were very happy with all of our dishes (my braised pork cheeks with cider and melted apples was amazing as was the hum baba we finished the evening off with. They are located a minute or two from the train station but well enough away from the tourist spots by the Place Stanislaus so it is a much more peaceful location for dining."

"We had a pleasant visit, the staff were friendly and it seemed to be a popular place for locals. We had galettes to start which were both generously filled and very tasty. Followed up with crepes which were again generous with the ingredients. The cider was also excellent!Fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and authentic Breton influences. Really good!"
