"We've been going to the Welfare for a few years now on and off. So what's the attraction? Well quite simply it's always been great value and a top spot for Sunday lunch and it's where the knowledgeable locals eat. Forget gastropub this is the...sort of place you should seek out if you want a good feed, with good quality produce, fresh for the most part and cooked like it was in your granny's day. The succulent, tender lamb had a taste you've probably forgotten ever existed and the gravy was full of the natural flavour you get from using the pan juices just as every family did when home cooked meals were actually cooked at home. The bar rates are like any good old valleys town club; prices so reasonable' (that means cheap) that it would shock anyone who lives in the Century. Worth a visit? Welsh diners can't be wrong!!"

"Christmas party for a table of 9 so eating was ordered from the set Christmas menu. 2 courses £20 and was worth it! eating was delicious and plentiful. well equipped bar and cheap. the staff was helpful and attentive. would recommend"

"Really nice food. I ordered a tray of chow main chicken balls and sweet and sour sauce. Verdict Chicken balls were big and crispy. Chow main was full of flavour and not salty Sauce was runny and not too sweet or salty. I give 10/10 for the food quality and taste. Staff were polite and friendly. The shop does not have a step for access for disabled should be ok, apart from door is not automatic but I’m sure staff will open it if needed. I will be ordering food from here again."

"Have eaten there for many years, unfortunately this time the food was awful gloopy dry chicken and inedible, had 3 mouthfuls and left it, it looked like something that had been in a baby's nappy.. when mentioning to the staff I was told I should of said something when asked (I had food in my mouth so was unable to reply) I was then told if I'd asked I could have had more sauce, which wouldn't have made the chicken any less dry, I was charged full price for a meal I couldn't eat... I reached out to the owners and was ignored, I wrote again 3 days later and I had a reply a day later, obviously saying they hadn't had complaints before and was sorry, they would give us 2 free meals to make up for it.... A full refund would have been more acceptable, as I will not be going back again"

"We were on holiday in Devon and came across The Prince of Wales pub in Princetown. Nice attitude when I ordered a couple of drinks. We saw a couple of blokes eating and bigging up the food which looked really good. We decided to eat there and ordered Hunters chicken and a homemade beef pie. One word describes it all SUPERB. I 've never had such a wonderful, homemade pie. Completely stuffed full with meat and the gravy was to die for. As for the Hunters chicken, my wife thought it was brilliant. Thank you very much to ALL the staff for an excellent time. Miss this place at your peril !!!!!"
