"We live just a short distance from this pub which previously was an OK place to visit once in a while for a quick drink but now transformed retaining a pleasant bar downstairs but adding a very nice dining room with high quality food upstairs. We have had one Sunday lunch and two evening meals there over the past few months. The dining room is really pleasant, the food very high quality. Not cheap but good value and makes a change from endless steaks, burgers, pasta and fish and chips. Emphasis on fish and also game when we were there. The service is also good. Do pay a visit!"

"Had a fantastic visit and loved every second. The food was great, the music was great and so was the atmosphere. I had the Halloumi and Chips, and my wife had Hunters Chicken, which was the best I've ever had actually. Definitely going back again."

"I have been a regular customer of HN 2nd floor bar since its openning close to 15 years ago. This is my favourite cocktail bar in Bristol. I love the knowledgeable, tentative, and yet very friendly and down to earth staff. Sadly, this afternoon’s experience was rather disappointing. Waiter had dismissive attitude, we had diffuculties drawing his attention to order drinks and pay the bill… It felt as we were in a dingy pub, which is absolutely fine if HN wants to take this route, except in that case you will not be able to justify charging £10-£12 per coctail. Pull up your socks HN!"

"The food (Zinger burgers) very dry with a scraping of salad cream or mayo and no salad. No hot drinks available. Sat looking at a massive brown stain on the wall. Worst of all the women's toilets. 4 cubicles, No's 2 and 4 had toilet bowls full to the brim with toilet paper, no 3 had no door, no 1 had a door with no latch and kept swinging open. Not a pleasant experience, better off in the toilets in the galleries"

"Chanced across this place glad I did. Burger was joint best I've had in my life the bacon used was refreshingly free of any fat. Immediately booked roast following day standard was similarly high, with largest portion of beef I've ever been served. Other pubs take note: There was NO soggy mash paste mountain used to make the meal look bigger. All staff friendly, on top of their game actually happy to be there. Drinks also excellent. Gold standard foodie pub that didn't feel particularly gastro. Would happily visit for drinks only."

"Had 2 excellent takeaway Sunday lunches, one veggie and one pork, both equally delicious. Would have liked a bit more gravy but that was easily rectified with the help of some gravy granules."
