"My fiancee and I were staying in Tintern overnight and settled on the Rose and Crown for dinner. Its not often I visit somewhere that gets every element of service absolutely right but here you had everything you wanted from a pub and more. From the start, we were immaculately looked after by two young ladies whose service was impeccable. The food was plentiful, tasty and hit the spot. The pub itself was a traditional country village inn set on the bank of the River Wye looking over at England on the opposite side. The bill for such a hearty meal including drinks came to £60 so also good value. I also enjoyed listening to the excellent banter between the landlord, his staff and the locals. Never rude or distasteful...just hilarious. I wholeheartedly recommend the R&C for anyone passing through or staying in Tintern. Its a big yes from me."

"Four of us came here for lunch. All of us extremely happy with our food and the service. We obviously wanted to talk to each other and hear each other with out the usual ear splitting noise in the background the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. Great that this is only a few miles from us, able to visit often"

"We had 2 great meals here, both evening and lunch as a stop during a beautiful walk across the country footpaths. Really lovely service ..couldn’t do enough for us and the food all freshly cooked and tasty with interesting selection..can recommend stuffed peppers and chicken pie. Good beer. We called ahead to let them know we were arriving as large group and had a relaxed time. Hope to be back next time we are in the area.."

"Went here for lunch absolutely amazing food! I usually struggle to find one thing on the menu but here I was struggling to decide between 5 meals! I eventually decided on the beef madras from the specials board which was absolutely lovely. My husband had the home made faggots which he said were the best he’s ever had! Also the homemade carrot and corriander soup for starter was really really good! Also good choice of lager and beers. Will be visiting again! Staff very friendly and informative of the menu as well as quick service."

"Amazing little find. Stopped off on the way home from holiday. Were made to feel super welcome by Gemma. She was fab, super friendly, accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us. Although it’s a locals pub we were made to feel really welcome and the locals were lovely. The food is excellent value for money. It came out quickly, was all freshly prepared and the portions were extremely generous. I can’t rate this place highly enough. It’s everything a village pub should be. Will definitely return"
