"Mangalavilas Military Hotel” or famously known as “Mangalam Mess” – This hotel starting with one restaurant near Shanti theatre, they now have five branches. The easiest one to locate for the tourists and the locals will be the one which is opened near the New Bus-stand. They have a sufficient seating capacity of about 50 people. They serve only Non-vegetarian food but hardcore non-vegetarians shall and should never leave an opportunity of visiting this place when in Salem. If you want to sweat without exercise but while eating and taste some Spicy mouthwatering non veg dishes then this the place to be at – THE MANGALAM Mess. One can enjoy the excellent chicken and mutton gravies with excellent side dishes like brain fry, chicken chukka, chicken roast, fish fry, egg fry, egg poriyal (Egg burji) with parota, Dosas and briyani. Dosas are served in the mornings till 12 PM and again in the evening. Briyani and meals are served in the noon.
