"First a declaration... I got given a $400 gift voucher so we ordered a few things that we wouldn’t have otherwise had cost been more of a consideration. $400 for 2 is easily achievable but this place is like buying a luxury car. All these optional extras bubbly $12 each, oysters $30 $5 each, caviar $25 each, non alcohol beverage match $60. Adds up.. and you know what? It was worth it. It’s probably a once in a lifetime experience. First thing allow 1.5 2 hours before your dinner time. A wine tasting and a tour of the sculpture park is complementary with your reservation. They offer 6 wines so that’s a good 30 45 minutes. Use the spittoon especially if you’re driving. Then have some sparkling mineral water and a walk around the beautiful sculpture park to cleanse the palate and the mind. There are two walks one taking 45 and the other 90 minutes but you can see most of the sculptures from the start so take as long or as little time as desired. We were guided to our table and the setting is small and intimate. Every table can see glass on two sides and the open kitchen. Even the toilets were beautiful with a gender appropriate sculpture in each. We were offered tap or sparkling water (no extra for sparkling you would hope so at this price point, and you need plenty of it to keep the palate fresh), followed by a very thorough explanation of everything on the menu. The service was truly impeccable. There appeared to be 5 wait staff for just over 10 tables; they were attentive without being intrusive, extremely knowledgeable about the dishes and the matched drinks. A different staff member would bring each of the dishes and it was just so well choreographed. I didn't pay enough attention to notice if each staff member was assigned a particular dish to make this slightly easier on them. The food was an adventure in local produce and apparently they change the dishes slightly on a regular basis so what you see here probably won’t be what you get. However everything is perfectly presented and cooked. Whether you like everything? That could be personal preference. I personally tried to work out what worked better with the wine and what went with the non alcohol match. They were very innovative with the matches and they don’t always work perfectly but it’s a wonderful journey to go through. I personally loved everything apart from the spanner crab. I though the potato overpowered the crab and it was lucky we ordered the caviar extra as it gave the dish that something extra and might have been a bit bland without it. The main came a bit late in the evening; with two very substantial sides after we had already eaten a fair bit. The brioche was possibly the best bun I had ever tasted. As noted already word of warning, only have one and you need it to mop up the sauce on the egg and goats milk foam dish. It was also very interesting, some of the food matched better with the non alcohol option (the scallop risotto) and others the wine (the duck eggs). The veal worked with both. I loved trying the non alcohol match as I’m sure it would have required much more creativity and imagination to make it work. I’m not sure how to conclude this... if you are in the area definitely give it a try. If you could try not to drive but the taxi or uber would have cost over $100 from the RACV club and to be honest it was better spent on food options while showing restraint on the alcohol for a party of 2. For a bigger party it’s a great option. Restraint does help you to appreciate the food though. I’ve done a few degustations at this price point and I would definitely say this is one of the best. They’ve made it about the finest local food and the drink pairings, and not about how clever the chef could get with fancy techniques. That was what made it perfect."
