"We did a bit of grocery shopping then decided to go for dim sum close by. This restaurant does not have a noticeable store front so you’d have to know about this place or you could easily walk right by it. The place is small...and needs some refreshing but caters to the older Asian crowd in the neighbourhood. Food is pretty good for the price point. Portions are quite large."

"So I haven’t been here in ages so I thought I’d come here instead of my usual. I got here relatively early so we got a seat quickly. I was pleasantly surprised by the old school dim sum carts and was able to order many...of my favourite dishes immediately. We went on a dumpling bonanza ordering shrimp, pork, scallop, spinach and yam. They were all good but it was just lacking a bit of juiciness. We has their steam beef balls which was quite tasty. Also had their spareribs in black bean sauce which was surprisingly good. I had ordered their beef rice rolls (my absolute fave) and it came out at the very end. IT was good but I’ve had better. All in all, a good dim sum experience with a nice dose of nostalgia. It will do in a fix but there are others that do it better."

"My husband and I were out cycling on a sunny Sunday and we wanted to stop in for some brunch and we saw Tangent and their big patio, a table had just become free so while he tied the bikes up I ran in and asked if we coud sit outside - the friendly waitress said "sure " but after a few minutes, another waitress came out and seemed quite annoyed "that we had just sat out there", not sure what her problem was but she was extremely rude about it.Anyway, I ordered the chorizo omelette and my husband ordered the breakfast with a side of sausages and bacon, and poached eggs with sourdough. Omelette arrived and it was ok -chips were very greasy and the butter on the toast was cheap - tasted like buttered popcorn butter ! yuck! But my husbands meal was a mess - everything came separately, the eggs and toast and greasy chips came on one plate, then three sausages came on another plate and then finally an extremely greasy plate of bacon arrived. The "sourdough" was nothing more than standard white bread and when queried we were told that "they don't stock white bread" - I have worked in a bakery making bread and I would be intrigued to see what they consider white bread if they think what they serve is sourdough??? Overall my husband left most of the food and he ended up feeling quite poorly for the day. It was not a good meal. Very disappointing."

"We had dinner at Connie's cookhouse decided on from a quick web search and proximity to where we were staying in Kitsilano (4th Avenue, 2100 block). Totally unpretentious but also totally Chinese. For our first visit we both had the dinner for one combo allowing us to sample a range of dishes. The servings were large, the veggies were as they should be hot and crisp, cooked just enough to take the hard chew edge off. A clean and basic restaurant, well worth the visit."
