"Tl;dr: great service, warm vibe, interesting and well-executed food, steep prices. We came to Unico through a last-minute plan, after a previous plan fell through. We were seated immediately by a waitress who was incredibly attentive and helpful. The menu is short and simple, with options for everyone. We ordered across the menu and the waitress and kitchen were incredibly accommodating to one in our party who had dietary restrictions. The kitchen changed their preparation with no problems and tried to work with us to find something we would enjoy. The food came out fast, all at the same time. We ordered a sautéed veggie entree, the monkfish, the octopus salad, a salad with shrimp and the shrimp appetizer. The octopus was well-cooked, fresh, and covered in a delicious salsa macha. The sauteed veggies were simple and not loaded with oils or overly charred. The monkfish was cooked perfectly, meaty, and served with plantains, brussels, and corn. I heard raving reviews for the rest of the dishes. It's clear the chef is designing a small menu based on what's available. The waitress told us the menu changes every few weeks. I appreciate this attention to seasonality and it was clear, from the food, the menu, the open kitchen, and the constant discussion with guests that the chef respects his customers, his work, and the ingredients. All of my party seemed excited to return, perhaps later this week."
