"Disappointing customer service that was exceeded only by the more disappointing meal. We were shown to our table and waited for some sort of service which never came. We waited around ten minutes then grabbed the staff’s attention and asked for a menu. Apparently you get these yourself from the bar; who knew? The food arrived fairly quickly but was not good. My lasagne was very dry and quite tasteless. Someone should introduce the kitchen to Béchamel sauce. I’d sooner have a Charlie Bingham lasagne from Sainsburys, much more flavour. Even the side salad was drying out When we paid, the landlord didn’t even ask if everything was okay, so I guess he knew. Sub par meal with lacking service. We normally tip a minimum of 10%, but this time left zero except most of the meal! Would not visit again. What a shame."

"I took my mother to the courtyard restaurant as a birthday present and we had a fantastic meal. she has always loved Scarborough, so we spent the morning in the city, a walk along the front and visited peasholm park before the short drive to the ox pasture hall hotel. I had recommended the restaurant and hotel by a friend who stayed for the weekend and said what was a nice place. he has not been wrong! the hotel gardens are absolutely stunning and we were really impressed as we were on the way up. as we were a little early and the weather was sunny, we decided to sit outside on the terrace and drink a drink before we sit on our table. it was fantastic to sit only there and very peaceful. the food itself was just as good and I am trying to think of another meal I enjoyed so much. as a large cattle eater, I decided to use mini-rib filet and brisket of bark meat, which was cooked to perfection. my mother had pork and enjoyed her as well. my wife was busy, so it was not in the position to come with us on my mother's birthday, but I have already promised to visit her so that she can see for herself what a great place it is."
