"After pitching up at the campsite down the road on a cold, wet October evening, we decided we didn't want to cook, so we drove up to Peter Tavy Inn. We didn't book ahead as it was a spontaneous visit. We were seated quickly despite there being 9 of us. The service was excellent, food delicious, friendly staff working. Our biggest compliment comes in regards to allergies though. Our friends have a child with a nut allergy and our youngest has a dairy allergy (both carry epipens, so serious). Upon explaining this to the lady taking our order, the chef wasn't happy cooking the food he wanted due to a risk of cross contamination. We worked together and found a solution we were all happy with and we enjoyed our food and visit so much, we've booked to come back on Friday evening before we go home on Saturday. Thank you so much for being so accommodating understanding and knowledgeable. Certainly our best eating out with allergies experience to date!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"Went to this Chippy based on good reviews given. They were right. The chippy itself is small in a Okehampton back street with a small seating area. It was very busy on arrival, but we can understand why. The Fish Chips Scampi Chips bought were fresh cooked well cooked tasted superb. Can thoroughly recommend."

"Prawn cocktail starter always an old favourite but in this case i could count the defrosted prawns on 2 hands, and as with once frozen prawns they had started to 'mush ' in the very center of an opulent bed of leaves to make the serving look much larger than it really was. Then onto the main which was named something grand and romantic but was in fact simply hunters chicken. The chicken breast showed no signs of cooking other than boiled to maintain its size, wrapped in a rasher of bacon and i believe baked with a BBQ sauce over it. Came with some fries (i counted 15) which were also once frozen from a packet. For dessert , as with starter and main course we both went for the same and chose 2 scoops of ice cream, each one maybe dessert spoon size. I would have put the total product cost at around 8-10 pounds sterling so with a total bill in excess of 65.00 i can only come to the conclusion that 'profit ' is everything and quality or even quantity for that matter is unimportant."

"I have been coming here for a few years now and it’s always spot on. I always get cheesy chips and ask for “enough salt and vinegar to kill someone” and they always deliver. I’ve roped multiple others into journeying into Tavistock simply for this place gorgeous! The man with the dark hair and beard is always a super star!"
