"Unfortunately we were underwhelmed with both the service and the food here. We came on a weekend and 1/2 our party ordered brunch which was incredibly disappointing, especially for the price. The other dishes were brought cold and not something any of us would order again. (ordered pancakes and eggs bennies). Forgot our drink orders and although the staff were friendly, they were so slow and inattentive. Will not be returning sadly."

"The place is small but clean, my partner and I both had 2pc haddock and fries, honestly it was ok, the fries were uncooked and the coleslaw was very bland. The tarter sauce was the most bizarre. I've honestly never tasted anything quite like it. Certainly not the Nova Scotia tarter sauce I'm used to. As for the haddock it was great, And cooked really nice, a light batter and fare size. Would I go back, not too sure a bit pricey but not the worst fish I've ever had."

"The only complaint was the oysters were very tiny with too much of a salty taste. They were not very good at all in comparison with many other restaurants of lower quality service. The service was fine. The atmosphere was very nice. The cost was a bit higher than most but everything else was to contentment."

"My wife and I were coming to a concert at Ramshead so we decided to double up and have our pre-show dinner there. We each had sandwiches and fries (nothing fancy) but it hit the spot, and we got a 10% discount and reduced parking because we also had concert tickets. Very convenient."

"I had the lamb tenderloin which was beautiful, with carrots and a delicious sauce. My dinner date had the beef tenderloin which was also delicious apparently. The service was great too, best meal we've had at River Cafe for a long time."

"We booked a lunch reception for a family special event. We were very pleased with the manager's attention to detail for menu, set-up and service. The manager and server were attentive to dietary needs (gluten-free) and preferences of some of our guests. We had great food and a lovely afternoon of visiting in a quiet, relaxed and private venue. Couldn't be happier,"

"The drinks were good. Menu is limited. One person did not like the pork. The other thought the short pastrami ribs were fat and of no value. The burger was good. Though very energetic, it's not really a place for $ 30 starters - much looser. Stick with the burger and a cocktail or beer."

"I was there with my friend to celebrate her birthday. Started out well, greeted us at the door, complimentary Prosecco, very lovely. When we ordered I was asking about Gluten Free as I have Celiac Disease. They recommended the Veggie Burger. I said let's do...it and after a while the waitress came back telling us the Veggie Burger has gluten in it. My friend's pizza was ready and we wanted to eat together. Our options were she eat while I eat my little side salad, then I eat my burger alone. Or her pizza sits under hot lamps while they make a regular burger. I said I'd just eat a salad so we could eat together. I asked for chicken with my salad not knowing it was a 7 upcharge. The manager came over and apologized, said they were setting me up with a nice large salad so I could take some home, then they charged me 24 for the salad, which should have been comp'd as it was their screw up. I didn't even eat what I wanted. Poor service. If it wasn't for the lovely way the evening started I would give them no stars. Save your hard earned and get a nice meal elsewhere."
