"Situated in the heart of Stockbridge The Kilted Lobster opened just less than a month ago on St. Stephen Street. Once you enter you feel like in a seaside restaurant. The decor is fresh, with blue tables and seafood inspired paintings on the walls. You instantly loose a sense of time when you enter. The restaurant is quite small with couple of tables and a bar. It's very cosy. We started with different fresh juices served in small glasses four on one stand. I tried the orange one and a pear one which were both delicious! This was followed by 3 different seafood amuse brouche which were lovely! They came served on a mirror like plate which made them look even more appealing. We moved on to a starter which was a woodland pigeon breast, fruit dumpling, stornoway black pudding covered with chorizo crumbles and accompanied by merlot sirup. We had red wine to go with it which was a great touch. The starter was served on a wooden tray which was actually a sliced segment of a tree trunk. This is a great idea and went very well with the pigeon dish. But to come back to the food, the pigeon was lovely! I think this was my first time having it and I loved the taste and the texture. It tasted like something between a liver and a game dish. I liked the black pudding combo which enhanced the taste of pigeon even more. For the main course we had a seafood platter. It contained calamari which were delicious, crispy and very fresh. We had west coast langoustine, cod fillet and mussel veloute. All the seafood was very fresh since Colin (the owner and head chef) uses only the best Scottish ingredients. It was all very tasty and especially the cod fillet was full of flavour and just melting in my mouth. I was already full after this but I can't say no to a dessert! A dessert platter arrived in front of me containing toffee apple panacotta, jura soaked clootie dumpling and hand made petit four. Again served on a mirror plate, the toffee apple panacotta was my all times favourite! Overall, this was an amazing dinner that covered all different flavours. The Kilted Lobster changes its menu according to seasonality. However, they're not only serving seafood. They're also trying to offer different kinds of meats. Hence, the pigeon starter that we had. They're also giving people vegetarian options if one of your party doesn't fancy meat or seafood. So everyone can find something he likes on the menu. The Kilted Lobster is a very cute little restaurant with friendly and relaxing atmosphere. If you're looking to have a meal somewhere where you want to loose a sense of time and feel like in a different world you should definitely try The Kilted Lobster. I can highly recommend this new hidden gem!"

"Unforgettable experience with Michelin quality dish after dish upping the anti in quality with every course. Imaginative wine pairing which elevated the experience would recommend spending a little more for the premium option which offered aged Chenin blanc and a surprising Bulgarian Bordeaux blend. Relaxed and professional team who clearly love what they do Could not recommend more highly"

"We went for an early Sunday evening meal with a very reasonable voucher of 5pm.co.uk service falling in agreement with previous reviews I would agree that the service was light haphazard, but this was mainly caused by an air that abhorse due to speech barriers. After we entered this, we found the personal to be both polite and any opportunity to deal with us and to give their own unbiased recommendations. food very good. as a set menu deal seemed the portions smaller than the without a good one, but this was perfectly reasonable for the price. my beginning at muscheln pakora was something I did not meet and was very annoying. there was no indication of dryness, as it can often be the case with pakoras. the crispy squid, who accompanied this, had a delicious dusting of seasoned. critically it also avoided any similarity with chewing a ripe that can occur so easily with the squid if a few seconds boiled too long. overall the starter was more michelin, less michelin ripen. for the first I had halibut. a favorite of me, because it is the ability to fly the lines between fish and the carnival meat of the country. it was moist while easily fled with my fork in fleshy pieces. it was accompanied by a sweet kartoffelfont, besides the fast fried earlyling wobbles and chicory. a drop-wise harbour reduction brought the plate together. the desert was a dark chocolate cheesecake with raspberry-champagner-couli. the dark chocolate was obviously, less so the baileys support. I'm more a sweet man, but the ones with a sweet tooth would have loved him. presented: beautiful personal, well-designed dishes, very inexpensive set menu (at this occasion over 5pm.co.uk) niggles: lacking drink cabinet with most ghosts and caught to be more supermarket sweep than to sweep me from my feet. first review, I will work to capture the photos in the future!"

"Room was booked last minute as we were disappointed with our first choice of hotel. The welcome was lovely aswas the room. It was my wifes birthday and we stayed in their quad room which was huge, comfortable and warm. The bathroom was clean with a power shower. Opted for Scottish breakfast on the first morning which was very filling. Overall it's a great place to stay within walking distance from the city centre and the local pub was very cheap and inviting. Would definitely stay again."

"As usual the food was excellent and served piping hot. The starter of black pudding and haggis was exceptional. The lamb main course was good but a little too pink for my liking. The pasta was substituted for mashed potato and greens and was no problem for the chef. The sea bream was cooked to perfection and complimented by the vegetables and potato. As always the sticky toffee pudding was to die for and the creme brûlée was equally good. The staff are always friendly and helpful and last night was no exception."
