"You are either a local or you have specifically hunted down this place because of the amazing reviews.... You will not be disappointed!! The lamb is stunning, worth the wait if they tell you it'll be a while until the antikristo style Cretan cooking is ready. The Pork belly too! The side dishes were excellent. And the owner and staff are very accommodating. They showed us into the kitchen to teach us about the cooking style. It's very hygienic! The spicy cheese was really nice, as was the sesame fried saganaki cheese (like halloumi ish, not rubbery, matured for two years!"

"We sat down for a late dinner. The atmosphere was very nice. There was some pretty good live music performed by a father and son. The music was so good that we followed it and drank Ouzo. According to Ouzo, our food choice was simple appetizers and seafood... The food was good and delicious. Unfortunately, the only thing we didn't like in the restaurant was the waiters. They were all unprofessional, uninterested and rude."

"The restaurant wasn’t directly next to the highway so one of the waiters was waiting with a menu on the pavement. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have stumbled upon this place. Definitely on the pricier side compared to most places in the area but personally worth it for the premium experience we had. The food was delicious, the service was first-rate and the atmosphere was great. It was windy and raining that night but they managed to make the most of it with great ambient lighting and classy music. They had a wide range of choices for both food and drinks. We were frequently visited throughout by the manager who was very pleasant and the waiter, George who was very kind and was an absolute star. We were given complimentary locally produced chocolates and raki after our meal. Looking forward to our next visit when we return to Crete! Truly remarkable service."

"Yummy! Amazing dishes. We ate at Portes more times than any other place in Crete and loved every meal. The moussaka and the zucchini flowers are indescribable. The staff is very nice and the ambiance is great! Truly recommended!"
