"Been here several times with intention of chatting and having several coffees. Seating is upstairs and order and cash desk are downstairs as you come in. Thing is that this facility also has to deal with the take-away service of drinks, ice cream etc and a queue builds up. Irrespective of whether you are sitting in or using take-away you join the same queue which can be out on the street. This can be annoying enough for the first order but for further orders it feels totally inappropriate. The staff are very pleasant and the coffees are quite acceptable but those running the business really need to find a solution to the above issue in my opinion. I know one of my friends suggested we have a look for alternative venues next time we meet, which is a shame as otherwise a great location and ambience. On an earlier visit (ie not June) I mentioned to above issue which I described as not working for the sitting in customers to which I was given the reply Oh well it works for us . I 'm not often lost for words.! Nearly a very good little coffee shop."

"Place was busy with a mix of locals and tourists. We got the last table. Very on the ball service from the barstaff. She recommended the home made steak pie and it was delicious. Huge portions, the veggies were a bit over cooked for my taste but that’s personal, others may prefer them like that. We shared haggis Bon Bon’s and when the chef saw we were sharing and there were three he went and cooked another. Great place."

"Just had the Dining in with Castle Fraser, OMG to say it was amazing is an understatement. The salmon and potato starter fabulous, the tarragon chicken main with the al dente vegetables (asparagus divine) was the best thing we have eaten in a long time and the homemade focaccia was sublime. Not even had dessert yet as stuffed but that also looks amazing and will have this after a glass of vino to wash it down. C’est magnifique Chateau Fraser xx"

"We were wowed by not only the food but the service and the ambiance. It was peaceful and delicious. A classy restaurant that isn’t too overbearing. The dishes were supreme. We were a party of 5 that sampled many dishes and were not disappointed with any."
