"For todays lunch I had fish and chips at the Wheatsheaf pub. Hand on heart and I am years old man can say without a shadow of doubt it was the very worst fish and chips I had tasted, lumpy, soggy, dripping with oil...batter. As for the chips the less the said, the better. Never again unless I want to end up with an instant cardiac arrest!"

"Great selection of quality plants and a fab restaurant. Lovely breakfasts and cleanliness second to none. The only place that cleans thoroughly after each table is vacated. Reading some of the negative reviews, I dont recognise the place. We visit regularly and have never had a bad experience. Best garden centre and cafe/restaurant in the area. Lovely staff, very professional"

"Not much of a looker from outside and really wasn't expecting much from the food. Glad to say we were totally wrong !, the food was delicious. Local Berwick crab sandwich with salad and crisps and a proper ham and tomato roll with salad and crisps plus a (large) bowl of lovely chips to share. We were both full. Reasonably priced and paid with card. Polite staff."

"Quality and choice of Bagels and baguettes in excellent. As a vegetarian almost vegan it has a good choice so I don't have to have the same old' every time. Wish more places did this. Coffee and tea is great, with a lovely cake too! Thoroughly recommend."

"We had wanted to dine here when we visited Alnwick last year, but couldn’t book a time, so made sure to book early this time, for Saturday evening. The restaurant is upstairs in the centre of Alnwick, and had a lovely atmosphere. There is an extensive menu and some specials. I had a pasta dish, Boscaiola, and hubby had risotto Contadina…both were delicious, really tasty. Having had a shared garlic bread for starters, we had no room for dessert, but saw some lovely ones coming from the kitchen. The staff here were lovely, and happy to make recommendations…loved it, and will definitely return."

"Whenever in Northumberland we always make a beeline to The Horseshoes Inn; their Sunday lunch is excellent. The roast beef was wonderful slices with roast potatoes, mash, carrots, broccoli, green beans and red cabbage and of course a yorkshire pudding. The owners and their staff were as friendly and helpful as ever and we can't wait to return again. Tables were cleaned and sanitized before we arrived and after people left."
