"This was probably our dozenth time stopping in Dunsmuir at the Railroad Park hotel, and we got our favorite caboose… pulled up just in time for a spectacular light thunder shower which smelled extra amazing (and did not light any new fires, thankfully . Later we finally tried out the swimming pool and hot tub, both were so great and welcomed after a lot of driving. Not too chlorinated- just right and super refreshing! (Next time we come we’ll shoot for a day that’s not a Tuesday when the awesome dining car is closed, but it gave us a chance to eat leftovers from the cooler! This is truly a fantastic start for families and Railroad buffs alike, in addition to the excellent historic museum like environs and accommodations there is also a couple different corn hole games and other lawn games in front of the model railroad sculpture to top all , replete with waterfall and cave caverns and little hidden goodies to find as you walk around. Push the button on the building adjacent to the fountain to watch it spin around the track for a few minutes. So fun! The owner seven vested a lot of love and time and then some into this place and it shows. Until next time!"
