"The steak had a beautiful flavour, but was too red for me - and the beautiful young waitress happily took it back so the chef could cook it for just 2 more minutes. Perfect - pink in the middle. Merci au chef de cuisine! The rose from Blaye was delicious, as was the syrah. The cheese plate was a tasty mix and one of the best yet. This place is away from the 'feed lots' and can be recommended."

"When this restaurant was called Le Marlow we went here for over 15 years. It was our second home: cheap, substantial meals and great value. Lots of joking but eccentric service which could be very slow. Frustrating for some people but we loved it and the mutual abuse was amusing. A lunchtime meal here set us up for the day. We were distraught when it was soldThe location is fantastic overlooking the beach. Sitting on the terrace looking at the sun going down is magic and remains so. Free parking nearby and a great place to people watch.The staff are now numerous and very efficient. They are very friendly and competent. But the menu is not nearly as good and the a la carte menu is a disappointment . Last night we had the 3 course menu and I was so hungry at the end that I had to ask for a cheese course in addition,. The menu was just not enough .The carpaccio of beef was good but 2 pieces came only with salad. The sausage turned out to be only one with only a few chips but a very nice sauce. And the mousse was OK but in total this was not really a meal to feed me at least. The gargantuan meals at the Marlow are just a memoryThey may not want people to choose the 3 course menu, but I could not find a substantial dish on the main menu. La Parenthese may have become a burger bar , rather then a restaurant . We know that there are much better places to eat nearby and we will go there.Shame after all the history we have here, of teasing and wonderful meals. We are quite nostalgic and have lovely memories .Though the staff are lovely and efficient we will not go back. Sadly."
