"Maxi is exactly what is needed! A small charming spot that specializes in doing one thing very well. It?s important to preserve and support HK and Cantonese culture. A world without HK/Cantonese food will be sad. The wontons are shrimp and pork . Maxi doesnot skimp on the shrimp at all! Most places skimp because shrimp is more costly. Some of the best wontons I ever had. Pro moveis to add a little vinegar and chilli sauce to the wontons. The broth is perfect and I confirmed with Maxi she does take thetime to use shrimp peels to bring out that seafood/umami flavor. No shortcuts here. I am pretty familiar with the Chinese foodscenes in SF and San Gabriel Valley (LA). Maxi?s is the best I ever had. The one contender would be the now gone Noodle Boy inRosemead (SGV). This is one of my favorite places. Very homey and very Hong Kong."

"Really liked the hong shao rou here. It was super tender and full of flavor but I can’t say the same about the soup dumplings and the scallion pancake. Those were a bit bland. I did also like the Shanghai udon noodles. That had a really nice texture to it"

"Best Chinese cuisine, especially Szechuan, in Westchester County! I've been here for decades, and it's still an amazing place for takeout, a small dinner or for a big party. Twice-cooked pork, Chinese broccoli or peas shoot with fresh garlic, with ginger and scaling, bok choy with black mushrooms, homestyle beans with pork (extra spicy), Singapore Mei fun, eggplant with garlic sauce, and a Szechuan five pepper chicken that will melt your head it so spicy and delicious... I'll think about it quickly."
