"It’s was our very first visit to Portugal and our very first night, so we decided to stay in the fishing village of Peniche. We thought we’d try the local cuisine and while ambling through the main town we stumbled across what appeared to be...a very popular local eatery, as it seemed to be full of the locals. Restaurante Miramar I wish we had walked straight past your doors as yours was the worse culinary experience we have ever entertained. Our story goes like this... We were seated very quickly and the young waiter was eager to take our order, which he took just before 8:30pm. He brought our drinks soon after, but that was the extent to which the service went. It took a further two hours before we received our meals and I am sure we would have been completely forgotten if it wasn’t for my husband raising his voice to get the waiter’s attention. Our order seemed to have been lost in the ether despite us having asked twice before what was happening with our food. The first reply we received from the young waiter was there was only 2 chefs and hence the reason for the delay. If they had only mentioned they were understaffed when they seated us we would have probably not stayed. Let’s face it, waiting over two hours to be served food is a definite no no in the food business. The waiters were all apologetic, but that didn’t really help as we had a ravenous 12 year old with us and the food was unbelievable late. What topped it all was the food wasn’t any good. One of the dishes was greasy chips, served with buttered rice and tasteless chicken. As a family we have eaten in many restaurants and this is by far the worst food and service we have ever received. Restaurant Miramar if I could give you no stars I would, but Trip Advisor doesn’t allow me to give zero. The moral of my story readers is don’t waste your money, the service and food at this restaurant is a definite thumbs down."
