"This is the second Hix restaurant where I was and I can say they were both excellent! I went to the pre-theater menu at a very reasonable price of £23. This included beautifully delicate pieces of Squid for the starter and perfectly cooked monks for the main course. What was the star of the show for me was the pudding, gooseberry cake with elderflower ice cream. Although the ice cream was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth, I still find nostalgic elements to serve the dishes. The pastry on the cake was just like my grandmothers, I had discovered this before the Tramshed, where I had a few jagged cakes that tasted as if she had cooked them that day. The filling throughout the chicken reminds me to pick herbs in the garden for them as a child."

"My new regular place. I found it hard to find beautiful pubs near me with a relaxed and cozy atmosphere where they don't wind music, but this really fits the bill. The food here is tasty (I had something pig bell for the first time in my life and it was great) and have a good selection of drinks and especially, their employees really know their stuff and mixed drinks really well. Kaileigh, Luca and Charlie are above all very polite, knowledgeable and accommodating. A really well-run pub and when it comes to this crowd, I know I'm in good hands. See you next time!"

"Really terrible. I ignored the last reviews and wished I hadn't - I visited the pub for >30 years and thought I knew it better. seated outside the open table said that they do not book tables outside on a cold november day, the half of the heaters do not work “gas coming next week” . after ordering a half hour waiting for eating. dear apologetic manager but service woeful otherwise. eating was nice enough when it finally arrived, but not compensating dreadful total experience. other guests who ask for tasty boiling water to warm their icey hands!"
