"This is a good restaurant, and I am only downgrading it a bit in comparison to what it was. The restaurant has a new owner, and they are working to make it a more professional (viable business. But in doing this, something is lost both in the ambience and in the food. I don't know if the chef is different, but the food is more straightforward. The ambience is less cozy; at one point pop music was playing. I came with some foodies, and we all agreed that this now fails to distinguish itself from the many Italian restaurants in NYC that serve similar dishes. The old version of the restaurant felt like one was in a small town in Italy: cozy, subdued lighting, and a waiter who would remember your name and was genuinely happy to see you. Pinocchio is not that now (the waiter was fine) and I wish them well but will look elsewhere for a magical experience."
