"Part of the Federation University 's Ballarat campus, Prospects 'training ' restaurant offers lunches and dinners to the public at various times during the year (corresponding to semesters) We 've been there quite few times for the meals which are prepared by students studying courses in food related programs. We have never been disappointed. The setting for Prospects mirrors a good quality professional restaurant, Front of house is usually in the hands of one of the supervisors, but the students do the rest Menus are varied and always interesting. This week we really enjoyed the African buffet they put on. To give some idea the menu consisted of a wonderful soup, and about six or seven dishes including braised beef cheeks, chicken, meatballs and lots of vegetable dishes the names of which were exotic but not easily remembered. This was followed up by the largest tasting ' plate of desserts you have ever seen two pudding dishes and cream. And the cost $25 !!!.... for a really excellent meal. Recently they have had Greek and Italian themed nights also The restaurant is licensed with a modest well priced wine list, and an inexpensive range of beers . The students are invariably shy, but always charming they have been well schooled in manners and style Parking is easy, and from the street it 's just a short walk past some of the University 's historic buildings. You 'll need to phone or check their website to find out what 's available... but if you can fir into their timetable its a value plus, and really enjoyable place to dine."
