"When we arrived our booking was unknown to the staff as their computer system was down. This meant we had to pay cash, a visit to the nearby cash machine was required. Embarrassing for me as I had taken a friend who was visiting Brentwood for the first time."

"Five of us went to Prezzo in Upminster and were underwhelmed by the service and the food. Granted it was midweek, but the whole point of going to a restaurant to eat it to be catered for. The table and ambience were fine. The service although friendly, it was sloppy. We were caught between the two. Our waitress worked hard but wasn’t well supported by the Team. Our food was poor at best. Our starters arrived at different times which mean’t that some people were eating cold food. The main courses were a combination of over cooked or undercooked. I had the ‘mushroom risotto’ for a main. I’m sure it wasn’t but it couldn’t have been dried/packet food. The consistency was ‘thin’ and it had been most certainly heated/reheated in a microwave. I appreciate all venues are under pressure to reduce costs but there is no excuse to poor food quality in a restaurant especially when a customer is expected to pay for it."

"I visited Riley's again last week - this tiime in the evening. It was definitely quieter and offered a more enjoyable ambience.The food is consistently good, especially the pizza, which is cooked by Aldo a genuine italian pizza chef. The food from the kitchen was also excellent and reasonably priced.I love BYO cafes and Riley's only charge a very small corkage - given that we had clean glasses and a wine cooler paying corkage is fine by me.At this time of the year the cafe is very cold as they keep the aircon on to balance the heat from the pizza fire, so wear your thermals! It is also very draughty, a problem that could easily be rectified with some basic carpentry.To avoid confusion Riley's on Cranford is definitely in Mt Pleasant, although the other side of Cranford Ave is Brentwood and the complex is called "Brentwood Shopping Centre"."

"Hmm v rushed really good came out within 5 mins of being ordered ! Must have all been pre cooked , tasted ok tho £15 for the burger with a handful of fries was a bit trumpy the garlic bread was tiny for £5.50 ! And the deserts were v pricey at £6.75 for bland tasting cheese cake"
