"C'era Una Volta is nestled in the beautiful countryside of Campania, in a fraction known as Varano. The Ristorante is more like a small traditional Italian community in itself. Tonino grows grapes in a small vineyard on the property to make wine served in the...Ristorante, as well as olives to make fresh homemade olive oil, and home grown herbs used in the many dishes he creates on a regular basis. The property and Ristorante are full of antiquities that Tonino has collected over his lifetime, set amongst a gorgeous landscape of flowers, plants and greenery. It's not your typical Ristorante, in that, Tonino creates new dishes each day. Wednesday and Friday evenings are reserved for traditionally cooked pizza in the outdoor brick oven (SO DELICIOUS All other days are a surprise! It depends on the vegetables that are in season, the best selection of meats and cheeses available at the time, etc. Rest assured, it is EXTREMELY affordable and you will leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face. I had the pleasure of staying in one of the suites above the Ristorante, and loved waking up to a gorgeous view of the vineyard and olive grove. The suite was spacious, comfortable and bright and it will feel like part of the family. I was even able to have a couple of cooking lessons with Tonino in the kitchen! (Which is kept in immaculate shape, by the way I promise C'era Una Volta is worth the drive!"
