"After wandering downtown Cozumel, my girlfriend and I stumbled upon this place and decided to give it shot. After going up one of the innumerable spiral staircases that most buildings here sport, we were greeted with a decent (but unspectacular) view and a friendly staff. Most of the menu was very expensive, and we decided to share a plate and appetizer, which it turns out was more than enough to feed us. I just feel it would be a problem if you came with people unwilling to share. The cuisine was Northern Italian, with lots of seafood on the menu. The lobster alfredo was very good.While the food was good, it just didn't seem worth the price. The flower salesmen and guitar players they let in we're mildly annoying and for a slow night, service seemed to be a little lacking."

"This was my third trip to Cozumel and each time I dine at New Especias twice during my stay. From the outside the restaurant is a very humble looking place on the second floor of building on a side street off the main plaza, but inside is very nice and the food is delicious. Francesco who is the owner and chef is an excellent in both roles. Francesco is from Rome and is dedicated to preparing food in the traditional Italian fashion. Do not expect the heavily sauced and overly spiced fare that is typical of US Italian restaurants; the sauces are light, and Francesco uses a gentle blend of a minimal number of spices so as to enhance the main ingredient(s) not overpower them. Over the years, I have eaten the Seafood fettuccine, Gnocchi with lionfish, and Lemon sauce and curry lionfish and all have been superb. There are pizza and other offerings for those seeking something more familiar.There are three or four tables on an outside balcony for those who want to people watch, and there is ample indoor seating that can accommodate large groups. I look forward to returning to Cozumel next summer, and when I do New Especias will be my first stop for dining."

"José has à à wonderful place right on the water for you to dine and enjoy the scenery.Eduardo is a great server and José came out to visit. The fish tacos are amazing!This is not a "tourist trap" kind of place, but rather a local, affordable, enjoyable place to relax. An unplanned find, a surprise and highlight of our trip!Thank you, José!"

"Chuy, this was AMAZING. Not only was the food great, but the owner was great to speak. He was helpful, pleasant and spoke very good English. I had the sea bass in the Madrasa sauce, which was a slightly spicy chipotle with rice and a great potato salad. The others enjoyed fried fish, steak and enchilada suiza, which were also great. Every day it has either Italian, Mediterranean, Japanese, Mexican and fish on weekends, the fish is freshly caught daily. There are also subs that were looked great and made while we were there and he also delivers delivery service. There are many breakfast items, including an egg Benedict, that I would like to try. All meals only 75 pesos. No alcohol, but I'm sure he would get u a beer!!! Closed on Monday."

"Pedimos una pizza grande para llevar mitad hawaiana y mitad espinacas, nos la trajeron a la casa.. las rebanadas sobre rebanadas porque la caja es pequeña y no cabe toda la pizza grande en una caja.. la salsa chimichurri que parecía agua.. cenamos y más tarde me levante con náuseas y malestar estomacal y así toda la noche.. terrible! hasta que finalmente pude vomitar toda la pizza que había cenado.. No regreso jamás!"
