"History of Tommy's First Location: Soon after Tommy’s opened as a small soda fountain in 1972, Rolling stone magazine voted it “Best Milkshake East of the Mississippi.” This is a photo of the restaurant’s first location on the corner of Coventry and Euclid Heights Boulevard. It began with 7 seats and eventually expanded to 27. Second Location: In April 1978, Tommy’s moved to 1820 Coventry Road. Here the restaurant was L-shaped, with seating on the 1st floor and on a balcony with a total of 77 seats. This remained the home of Tommy’s until November 1988 when a fire destroyed half a block of Coventry, including Tommy’s dining room. Third Location: After the fire in November 1988 wiped out the dining room, the restaurant continued to use the kitchen but moved the dining room to 1824 Coventry Road, which housed Coventry Cats and High Tide Rock Bottom. Despite this transition, Tommy’s maintained a 70-seat capacity. Current Location: The current site of Tommy’s celebrated its grand opening in May of 1993. It seats 125 people."

"First time here and it was good. Staff was friendly and service was fast (came at 10:30a on a Saturday) Inside tables are a comfortable 2 or a cramped 4, but outside seating is benches and shared tables Avocado toast was good, latte and mocha were decent. California Benedict had great flavor but I chose the wrong side. Will be back to try the biscuits and gravy"

"I realize finding people to serve in restaurants is difficult, however the people that are there should be educated by management on providing excellent service so customers keep coming back. I’m tired of spending money on food that use to be better and now very poor service. I received a dry salad with no dressing. Our waiter never came back to ask if everything was ok, so I asked a different waitress if she could bring me some dressing. Never received it. Finally our guy came out after salad was half eaten because we had an event to attend and brought it. NEVER an apology. I don’t like feeling I should just get up and get the things I need while I’m dining. NOT a busy time either- we were there at 5:30."

"This is our favorite place for Tex-Mex here in the Plano area!! It is very close to the house and they always treat us great when we come eat! But don't be scared to come to the bar and visit Opie because he will take great care of you and make you feel great!! Maybe it's more of the jalapeño skinny margaritas that makes you feel great!! Great food and a great atmosphere!!"
