"Went here for dinner tonight and had a fantastic meal with incredible service in a beautiful garden setting. I will say that initially I was skeptical of dining here - an Indian restaurant in Switzerland - but I will say I was won over very quickly.I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the UK and the US, this is my first in Switzerland. One of the owners was our server and was very helpful with menu accommodations regarding spice level on the dishes and explaining how they prepare certain dishes (every restaurant prepares things differently). At Tadka, each sauce (gravy) is prepared to order - there is no base sauce which really surprised me - and you can really tell. The menu was typical of an Indian restaurant. I recognized nearly every dish, so if you are familiar with the cuisine, you will not have any surprises. Started our meal ordering papad with mango chutney and an onion salad. The portion of papad was generous and good value at CHF 5,00 and the onion salad was tasty and traditional (CHF 4,50) and a good enough portion to share with the papads. In addition to the mango chutney they bring chili sauce, mint yohgurt sauce and a tamarind sauce. I mentioned usually having mango pickle with my poppadoms and within minutes i had a side of that too.Main dishes were Lamb Curry (CHF 31,50) and Butter Chicken (CHF 29,50). The Lamb Curry was ordered with a spice level of 'mild to medium'. The lamb was very tender and cooked very well and the sauce was tasty. The only 'complaint' was that the spice level was more on the mild side than the medium side. I really didn't have any heat with it at all. 'Complaint' is in quotes, because it is really a taste preference and not really a fault of the dish.The Butter Chicken was really nice. The sauce was thinner than I expected it to be considering the number of times I've had it in different restaurants. My thought is that it is due them not using a base sauce - and every place I've been to probably uses a base. It was very flavorful and definitely mild as requested. My only 'complaint' on the dish is that the chicken was dark meat only and I'm not a fan of dark meat chicken. Again 'complaint' in quotes since it is my preference and not a fault of the dish.Now for service - it was exceptional! The service was the most cordial I've had in Zurich. We were offered a chance to view the kitchen (which we did not do, but will on our next visit) and got details about how dishes are prepared. Additionally, after it was learned that I did not care for dark meat chicken, I was told that when I return if I give them enough notice they will have white meat chicken breast available for my dish (whichever I choose - Chicken Tikka Tandoori or Butter Chicken again). I found this to be a step above and beyond accommodating. My only regret from this meal is that I did not order a naan bread, not because I was still hungry, but I would have liked to try it - especially since they make them from scratch. I will have to wait until my next visit."
