"The food in this place is just lovely. A mix of different places in the globe but never the less well put together. Bread is delicious, coffee, chocolate and breakfast are a must. The deko is very cute, minimalist but cosy and kind of shabby chic? :D I dig it, it makes you want to wake up late on a Sunday, drag yourself to DUO with a book and spend 4 long hours reading, drinking coffee and a pastry. Service was a bit slow but attentive and always with a smile. I will definitely come back and enjoy this place longer."

"This restaurant was recommended to us by several people so we decided to check it out. The kitchen closes at 8, because seafood is normally something for lunch. We came around 2 to make a reservation for later that day I’m not sure if you can make a reservation online. The staff made us feel at home from the very first moment and I really liked the fact they made us several suggestions. They were very professional and friendly without exaggerating it. We ordered the tostadas de atun and we were blown away by the taste explosion excellente! After that we had the pescado a la talla contramar. Don’t forget to eat the head as well, it’s too good to leave it on the plate. After that the merengue con fresa and carajillo 43 and a little piece of heaven. Unbeknownst to me, we were eating at the restaurant of the chef that I knew from Masterclass. It was Gabriela Cámara who taught me to make salsa verde, aguachile y tacos al pastor! I was so excited that I told Miguel, our beloved waitor about this and he immediately introduced me to the chef and I was so happy to meet the person who shared her knowledge and love for Mexican cuisine to me in my home in the Netherlands during our long quarantine nights. 5/5!"

"Unfortunately, I cannot recommend El Popular. Its food was lackluster, but doable to quell hunger, but the problem was the service; We strive to be highly respectful, so please do not understand this review to be from a couple of ugly tourists; nonetheless, what sad...service; like, ignoring a request for English language menu even when we were asked if we wanted one and we said yes; I had to go to the cashier after no less than minutes; it was likely that the server did not like the cut of our jib; this is the only conclusion i.e., it was a bit of a sad moment to see first hand that two tables (sat after us and having their orders taken after us) got both their drinks and meals before us; not just by a little bit but they where mid meal when we got our drinks finally and done by the time my spouse got her meal; it had to have been a really bad day for our server, but not so bad that she made made sure to point out the place on the bill for her tip; I tipped which is a rarity for me (I consistently tip to in CDMX to anyone in the service industry as they clearly work very hard for the little they are paid also considering that the cost of most meals and services is very very low). The food was average and not recommend-able."

"I had some recommendations, but the place was way much better than I expected. The best hummus and grape leafs I've ever tasted. Everything we ate was great. The waiter Luis was not only helpful and friendly. He did that extra thing to make us...feel among friends. Prices are very good for what you get. Don't miss the place"

"Worth going for the experience, the setting, and the service. This is pretty much what you are paying for more than the food. Food is acceptable but overpriced. The only one worth mentioning and maybe worth its price is the hamashi. Wine and cocktails are fairly priced for the place, I think. Our server’s recommendation is also on point! The menu is available in both Spanish and English. I think some verbiage/description can be improved. Most waiters can speak basic English. Cash and credit cards accepted. Tips are kinda expected and well, deserved because of how servers/waiters will cater to you. They will change your plate and utensils every time a course is brought it. We ordered mostly tapas and they changed our plates three times! If you go to the restroom, a gentleman will turn on the faucet for you, pour soap on your hand, give you towel to dry, and then pour lotion on your hand. Yes, this is how catered you are going to be. So you better tip at least 20%, if not more!!!"

"Such a hip European style restaurant. Service was excellent including waiter recommendations. Our dishes were traditional style dishes but with a local flare. All of which were excellent full of flavor and of quality ingredients which we enjoyed sharing amongst us friends to try the variety of dishes. Top quality dishes along with the perfect European vibes paired to perfect cocktails by the bartender. Will definitely return to this fantastic restaurant. Cheers."
