"Generous portions of food.
We came here for a late lunch, but the restaurant was still pretty busy. We sat promptly in. The staff was friendly.
I ordered Soba Noodle salad with karaage chicken (it came with an apple juice). My husband ordered Teriyaki chicken, who came with Sashimi, rice, rice and miso soup. We also ordered an additional side of Karaage chicken and Agadashi Tofu. The meat was tenderly, mostly damp, but I found some pink and dry pieces. I prefer my noodles warm, but a salad is, I expected it's cold. My plate was not bad, it was dressed with a worthy, salty and sweet flavors. I think the star court was the tofu. In addition to Sushi Wow in Newtown this is the only other Japanese restaurant that makes the tofu so good. So silky smooth and the flavors were set. Grief If you have an appetite, enter this place definitely go a go AS portions are generous. The only thing is that I had a aftertaste in my mouth after my plate. Also the mocktail mojito ... read more "

"I've been to Est twice- for the dinner tasting menu and lunch à la carte, so my review below is based on both experiences.

Service is fairly good. Staff are largely attentive, helpful and friendly, although there were a few instances of forgetting our requests.

Ambience and decor are very nice, creates a lovely setting to relax and catch up with friends. In the day especially, the light pours in through the tall windows and creates a lovely bright mood.

Unfortunately the food and drinks can be a hit or miss. Some of the dishes were quite nice and some really were not (found quite a few to be too salty, too dry). Some of the cocktails were not great either (e.g. mine tasted too similarly to Thai green curry for my preference!)

Overall-- Est is great for service, ambience and environment, but you'll find better food and drink elsewhere."

"The food is just alright, small quantities, waitress missed our last dish order and let us wait for never-arrived food for 15 mins. When we asked about it, she went to just order. So I asked to cancel.

"

"Several times several times and never had problems with food and services, although I personally believe that there are plenty of Japanese restaurants in Sydney, the less and caster. The only reason why I came back today because it was favorable for me to meet with friends after work. Foods were fine, but the service was terrible. Never have any experience in a Japanese restaurant. A girl with a girl was angry and looked at her watch because I was still waiting for my more 4 friends. I have mentioned the girl who is at the queue outside my friends, and she is more than welcome to bring another group to the role, I'm fine to wait for the next round. After offering twice, she still says that it is alright to me. When I sat, and began to order immediately, then 1 girl came with my order. After completing food, I sat and waited for me to wait for my boyfriend and the rude girl came with her face and looked at her watch to check the time. I explained everything, but she still gave this kind of face and totally rude and began to shouting the girl that she does not believe my explanation as she does not believe. Never come back !!! And I wish I looked at her name day so I can call the manager to give her a decent training to make sure that a good service is as important as the food."

"After visiting Uncle Tetsu's with a colleague to pickup a cheesecake (see my other review), he suggested we grab a bento box lunch at Yori Ozeki. Having made no other lunch plans, I willingly obliged, thinking it appropriate to continue with the "Japanese" theme we had going.

I have had some very mediocre bento boxes in the past, so I approached Yori Ozeki with some scepticism. The variety of bento boxes on offer was quite good, however, and wanting something meaty, I opted for the chicken bento box. Despite being extremely busy, we were served immediately, and walked away with our lunch less than 30 seconds later.

At $13.00, my initial impression was that it was relatively expensive for a bento box. As I would find upon eating the meal, however, the extremely generous serving size amply justified the price tag. Both the katsu and karaage chicken included in the box were solid, and their accompanying sauces were flavoursome. The rice was nice and sticky (though a bit more would have been nice), and the pancake with red bean paste (admittedly, not something I have tried before), was a nice little sweet treat to finish the meal.

Overall, Yori Ozeki ticks all the right bento boxes (I'm so sorry!) when it comes to fast Japanese takeaway. It's nothing mind-blowing, but it's fast, tasty, and extremely filling."
