"Recently revamped it looks like any fast food outlet. No ambiance. BUT the food is excellent and cooked fresh daily, the cost is definetly on the low side (€4.50 for a kebab + all trimmings). Just off the Place Gambetta you can watch traffic go by, or each Saturday eat in the heart of a HUGE street market. Service is quick, young waiter speaks English. If you do not want fancy cuisine, but you like autherntic at low prices, try it."

"To celebrate the birthday of my significant other, I chose this admirable restaurant in a magical estate on the outskirts of storied Carcassone. Domaine d’Auriac is a Michelin starred restaurant, part of an estate that includes a luxury hotel, bistro, and golf club. The restaurant...setting is superb, on the lower level of the estate grand house. Welcome and hospitality are effortlessly professional. This is a superbly run estabishment, sure of what it does and very aware that it does it well. The entrance and restaurant interior are covered with exquisite rugs, mostly Persian and Baluchi. Outside (where we sat) is a terrace with delightful views of the estate trees and swimming pool. And then there was the food... We had the set menu at each young son was accommodated with excellent monkfish and potatoes that he relished. We began with a carpaccio of artichokes for me and snails for her. Such simple words do not do justice to two simply superb dishes, inventive and playful and packed with astounding flavour-notes. This was completely delicious, sublimely executed. Main courses were beef for her and lamb sweetbreads for me. Presentation was faultless, ingedients melted together in a triumph of assured cooking. In between courses, various amuses bouches and treats cleansed palate and spirit alike. The desserts were simply a triumph and I normally do not take dessert. One was a soufflé rated astounding, while I was treated with a peach brought to dizzying heights by various infusions and twists that seemed quite extraordinary. And throughout, a level of service that was as calmly assured as it was professional. A wonderful Borie de Maurel Sylla (an old trusted friend in Ireland) held it all together. This was a remarkable meal, in a beautiful setting, presented with skill and expertise. Cooking of such exceptional ability was nonetheless joyous and satisfying. A beautiful experience to be savoured for a long time to come."
