"Being a Korean-Chinese restaurant, Ga Hyung Ru serves something different from the usual affairs: bulgogi, BBQ, or hot pot, etc. Instead, this quaint eatery serves predominantly noodles and rice dishes; something more homey. Seafood, Pork and Black Bean Sauce on Noodle – $12.75. It appears that the black bean sauce is one of their specialties. It had strong flavours of bean paste (obviously) and caramelized onions. The pork and seafood (which was just shrimp) were hard to see in the dark sauce, but the textures were definitely there. Overall, the sauce wasn’t too salty, and it struck a perfect balance with the noodles. Speaking of which, the noodles were quite tasty, and had a good springy texture."

"Went there for dinner with my wife for dinner. First the car park, some with Maru signs some without apparently, Maru customers can use some of the unmarked car park lots. This was the prelude of rather unsavoury experience to come. Greeting at entry was regimental directed by the waitress to a 2 person seat at front part of the restaurant. As this part was rather noisy we asked whether we could be seated further in. Ans: a regimental no. Shortly after, another walk in couple was directed (without request to inside seats. Another reason, we dislike the front seating was because we wanted to sample 3 or more dishes. The small table simply could not accomdate all of our orders. Service was haphazard and the waitress wasn 't very communicative when asking for dishes particulars. For food: the seafood pancake was clearly mislabelled just a slight hint of some (unknown seafood. It should be more correctly called Pancake with seafood flavour! Since we ordered seafood , we thought to add white wine to the flavour. OMG, Maru served lukewarm white wine (may be they confused white grape wine with Korean Soju! Walked out with unsatisfied hunger pangs and bad taste in mouth. Come back again? If and only if with my worst enemy!"

"Maru Korean Bistro has an innovative and modern menu featuring such things as sous vide meats and baozi. They also have a nice little happy hour menu, at least on Saturday from 2 to 5:30 from which my partner and I tried the Galbi Sliders. At 6 for two, I thought this was a very nice taste of some well prepared meat on a tender bun with condiments. Nice! We tried the Korean Fried Chicken from the appetizer menu which was more sweet that spicy. On the plate were some Korean Rice Cakes which for some reason, I have never had before but will have again in the future, for sure. "Won’t recommend this restaurant at all, the way that they put mandatory 15% tips in your bill and ask you to pay for it…. I can accept if you do providing good service but then tips is still up to the customers and not you forcing to put in the bill…. Especially they add 15% tips after taxes…. It is unacceptable and will never go back again"

"Not for the weak.. This Korean restaurant is perhaps the most popular Korean restaurant in Vancouver to Koreans. Like many restaurants in Korea, this restaurant only serves a niche type of food. Organs and of particular choice, intestines.<br/ <br/ Whether you decide to get the soup or the fried hotplate, it will likely be very spicy and if you cannot eat spicy, I wouldn't even recommend eating here. If you enjoy spicy food and don't mind the ingredients, you must try this place.<br/ <br/ The quality of this restaurant is comparable and even exceeds some of the same type of restaurants in Korea. Ask your Korean friends, they'll know.<br/ <br/ Also, they do have an English menu."
