"I'm not for hyperboles, but I just had one of the most difficult experiences on Safeway in Union City. It was the entire experience that frustrated me and unwilling to return to any safeway location. The topics started in the Deli department. After leaving the Deli department, I asked to talk to a manager about what happened. The manager, much to my surprise and disappointment, said to me, I know what you describe. This employee repeats the same behavior. I'm not sure if he tried to be sensitive (but inconspicuous), but I thought of myself, How can this be a known behavior and no corrective measures be taken?! I'm not asking for the termination. If the manager had said that we are aware of this behavior and we work with this employee to improve his customer service, then great! I would have stayed happy. I am hopeful that, although I have abandoned purchasing at your location, you can take the loss of my company as an opportunity to prevent other customers from having similar experiences. I've been shopping at this place for years, but if this is how bad customer service gets address, I'm lucky to have other options for food. Just one episode. The above feedback was left with Safeway. I was told that a call is made with me to get more insight. Nothing. No message No message I can see that they monitor their Yelp reviews and leave answers, but the answers seem to be an attempt to mitigate overthrow of negative reviews, oriented to READERS of review, instead of trying to fix the issues of concern to the original poster of review."

"The Safeway on Diablo in Novato is the worst shopping experience in my life. All the remodels they allegedly made in the last 10 years have done nothing to improve the deli department, which is a very bad joke. No one, and I mean no one speaks a word of English, and the Deli manager doesn't even know their products or what they wear. You can complain, everything you want to lead, but they continue to employ people who have zero knowledge about the English language, and it is only worse by the years. While I appreciate diversity, it does not work if you care for customers who only speak English. Last year, they had the most rude Deli manager I was complaining about, until they finally removed him from Deli and waited for it. I'm not sure what he was promoted for, but the last few times I was in this store, he's on the floor, just walking around or moving things. I don't see him laying shelves. This is the problem with trade unions; these people cannot be fired. And back to the topic of reconstruction. I think this store has made 3 big upgrades since it opened what was a total waste, because they continue to ignore doing the ground again. If you do not update the floor, all you have done to update and rebuild in the branch is unnoticed. All checkers are unfriendly; almost as if they don't like it. Even the ladies at the Starbucks counter are unfriendly. I bought at the Safeway at Nave and never had this experience. The Safeway on Diablo seems to only rent rude/unfriendly people and those who have no knowledge of English."
