"We were in Madeira a week ago staying in Calheta. We'd seen the reviews and thought we'd try this place. A good find. Sure there's places on the harbour that might be a bit showier, but this place just serves good honest food with a...good friendly service. What more do you want? The garlic bread was amazing, while my wife and myself shared a garlic prawns that were so fresh they almost swam to the table! My wife had the steak sandwich as she wasn't feeling too hungry! Wow what a sandwich with steak, cheese, ham, a fried egg and salad, all served with some really great hand made chips. I had the stefarda which had loads of garlic butter dripping off it, served with salad rice and chips! All washed down with a few beers! The service was really good and really friendly. If you want good local food this is the place to go. Get there now!!!!!"

"The restaurant is on a steep rampart and there is a nice view to Calheta and the sea. Interior is clean and service very polite and and restrained. We ordered mixed grilled fish and seafood for two persons. The portion insisted also bread with garlic, vegetables and a huge amount boiled potatoes. There were three different species of fish (espada, dorado, bass), mussels, squids and big shrimps. The portion was pretentios and so large that we did'nt eat potatoes at all. Fish was quite good but not as excellent as the price had presumed. Warm bread was good and vegetables (green beans, carrots and broccoli) were fresh and tasty."

"While I have to give an absolute thumbs up for the marvelous view, I have to say as compared to many other places we have visited on the island (this is our 5th time now) we were not impressed. The food was fine, yet a bit expensive as compared to what the island has to offer. The service was highly polite, but slow and we really had to put effort into getting noticed. We had a nice evening. But we would have had it elsewhere equally."
